Unit Overview:
This unit presents and discusses the importance of business intelligence (BI) to auditing and assurance. It interprets the methods of gathering and analysing data and their influence on forms of business intelligence. The potential use of BI in auditing and assurance operations and its application outputs are assessed. The development of BI utilities for assurance operations is examined including organisational factors that can impact the utilisation of BI in auditing and assurance contexts. Ethical considerations and global considerations in international audits are compared. The unit introduces several BI tools including Microsoft BI as a contemporary application that can be used in streamlining auditing and assurance activities.
