Human Resource Management describes the formal systems devised for the management of people within an organisation. It is an important element of any successful organisation by enabling it to maximize its productivity by optimizing the effectiveness of its employees. This unit assists students to develop their knowledge and skills in the discipline area of Human Resource Management. The unit addresses key aspects including: the nature of human resource management; definitions and terms in relation to human resource management; methods and major schools of thought in human resource management; critics of human resource management; and the functions of human resource management.
