Unit Overview: | |
A work-integrated learning experience undertaken during the final year of study offers a unique opportunity for students to develop and evaluate a range of employability skills under supervision and with appropriate support. Working remotely with an Australian or global organisation, students will apply knowledge and skills gained through their academic studies in a real-world setting. The internship provides firsthand experience of how theories, concepts and skills learned in their course can be applied in a practical business context. Internship activities may include identifying opportunities, developing strategies and designing processes, procedures and management practices to assist an organisation in achieving its competitive potential. The internship is undertaken using remote communication technologies. The host organisation may be local or global, large or small, commercial or not-for-profit, and the type of work experience projects available are various. The work will be meaningful and related to the course of study in which the student is enrolled. Students may have a choice of work assignments depending on the circumstances. The internship workload is twenty hours each week for the duration of a 12-week teaching term (i.e., 240 hours). |
