Completion and Graduation
Congratulations!
We are incredibly proud of what you’ve accomplished. If you have finished your study of all units or are close to completing your course, this section will guide you through the final steps from course completion to graduation and beyond.
Step 1: Verify Completion Eligibility
The Institute will assess your eligibility for completion based on the following criteria:
- You have satisfied all academic requirements for your award(s) upon results release in the current term; and
- You have fulfilled all obligations with IMC, including files, fees, fines, and Unique Student Identifier, etc.
After your completion has been reviewed and approved, a Completion Letter will be emailed to your student email address within 10-15 business days. This letter is a notification of your completion. Only an electronic copy of the Completion Letter will be provided; no hard copy will be issued.
Please submit an enquiry if you have not received it after 15 business days from qualifying to myrecords@imc.edu.au. The Completion Letter is not an invitation to the graduation ceremony. Please wait for the graduation invitation, which will provide details about the ceremony and instructions for RSVP.
The Academic Transcript, as the official document listing the units you completed, can be requested from myrecords@imc.edu.au after results are released. Please provide your name, course completed, and student ID when requesting the transcript. Typically, it takes 2-3 business days to receive the soft copy. If you request a hard copy, please account for additional postal delivery time.
There is no charge for requesting one copy of your academic transcript upon course completion (unless you have already received an academic transcript at no charge). However, you will need to pay for postage if applicable. For other situations regarding academic transcript requests, please refer to the Fees page for detailed costs.
Step 2: Prepare for Your Graduation
-
Graduation Certificate
The Institute will approve a list of students who are eligible to be awarded a qualification and to graduate. Graduates who are unable to attend a graduation ceremony will have the appropriate award conferred by the Institute in absentia.
-
Graduation Invitation
Graduates will receive an invitation letter to attend the graduation ceremony. The email will contain a registration link to reserve your spot. Graduates need to complete the registration to secure your attendance.
-
Book Academic Dress
Once complete the registration, you need to confirm your academic dress size and finalize the academic hiring process. You will receive your academic dress on the graduation day.
-
Preparation
Graduates can relax and prepare for the big event! For those who would like to invite family or friends from overseas, please contact us via studentservices@imc.edu.au to issue an official invitation letter. IMC will reach out to graduates attending the ceremony starting three weeks prior to the event to provide key information about the graduation day.
-
Attend Ceremony
On the graduation day, please ensure you arrive at the venue on time. Go to the front desk to complete your registration and collect your academic dress. IMC will conduct a rehearsal before the ceremony to help you know your standing spot and familiarize yourself with the order of the ceremony. Be excited and enjoy this big event as you celebrate with your family and friends!
Step 3: Join IMC Alumni
All graduates will be automatically added to the alumni list and will regularly receive the alumni newsletter as well as invitations to participate in various events. For more detailed information, please refer to the Alumni page.
