English Language Requirements
All applicants with overseas qualifications applying for Undergraduate or Postgraduate studies at IMC need to provide evidence of English proficiency. IMC recognises a number of English language tests as proof of English proficiency, however, requirements vary across programs.
The tables below outline the tests and qualification requirements accepted by IMC to prove English language proficiency. English language test scores must be less than two years old from the application date.
English Language Skills Tests we accept include
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System) – Academic module
- TOEFL PB (Test of English as a Foreign Language: paper-based)
- TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language: internet based)
- Pearsons Test of English (PTE) – Academic
- Cambridge English C1 Advanced (formerly CAE)

English Language Skills Tests Conversion Table
Prior Study Undertaken in English
Applicants may not be required to undertake a language test if they can provide certified documentation as evidence that they have successfully completed:
- One-year tertiary study in Australia or another English speaking country 1, OR
- Secondary study or at least one-year full-time tertiary study in another country 2. The language in which this qualification was undertaken must be in English.
- A completed and recognised secondary education (high school) qualification in Australia or another English speaking country.
- Applicants who have been admitted to courses at other TEQSA registered higher education providers at the same AQF level and with the same English language proficiency requirements as IMC.
- A transferring applicant for a course at IMC with an IELTS score of 0.5 below the IMC threshold score is deemed to have met the IMC threshold score if 50% or more of units studied at a TEQSA registered institution at the same AQF level as the intended IMC course have been passed.
