Unit Overview:
This unit primarily deals with the legal regulation of workplaces . This is a complex and dynamic area of law with considerable relevance in legal practice .The aim of the unit is to assist students to understand the scheme of legal regulation of work relationships, employment conditions, terms of work, and collective bargaining. Some consideration will also be given to the history of the regulation of work in Australia since federation in 1901 and the institutions such as the Fair Work Commission, the Fair Work Ombudsman and specialist tribunals which, in addition to the courts, have responsibilities in contributing to the legal regulation of the workplace in the 21st century.
