Unit Overview: | |
This unit is intended to prepare students better for managing complex projects in the real world. It provide students with the opportunity to extend their basic project management skill acquired in DAS705 Project management in information technology to more complex data projects. A variety of relevant theories and tools are covered. The unit will combine theoretical and practical perspectives to equip students with skills to be able to better manage complex projects through the advanced use of Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) as well as Agile methodologies in managing a data project. The unit also evaluates the interactions between data and systems stakeholders and project implementation in the context of complex, large or sophisticated data projects. The unit provides a further hands-on opportunity to plan for a project as well as implement it in a simulated environment. Real-life complex project management case studies will be discussed in the context of data analytics. |
