Unit Overview: | |
This unit brings together the learning and skills acquired by students throughout the course. The capstone will require students, in groups, to complete a data analytics project to address a real world problem for a business using data analysis and interpretation methods. These will include data collection, data cleaning and processing, data modelling and analysis as well as the interpretation and visualisation of results. The unit provides an opportunity for students to explore deeper disciplinary knowledge; while also meeting and collaborating to develop and present a final report. The capstone will also include an analysis of ethical, social and professional issues associated with the data analysis capstone project. The capstone project will enable students to identify and place a business-related data-driven problem into an analytical framework, solve the problem through computational means, interpret the results and communicate the findings. It will also require students to present and defend their data analysis approach and results. Students will work in groups with each allocated a specific project and will need to have weekly planning meetings with the lecturer to receive verbal and written feedback regarding their progress. The unit requires a collaborative approach and the delivery of a final data analysis report with recommendations, based on the data analysis project as well as formal presentations of the project outcomes. |
