 Unit Overview:
This unit examines the technology and applications of database. It introduces data and data lifecycles, types of databases and types of data. It evaluates the use of non-traditional data and presents the use of XML and text in a database context. It provides students with the opportunity to learn about SQL queries, data exploration, cleaning and transformation. Data analysis techniques used in contemporary relational databases are also explored. It covers advanced SQL constructs and the principles of database design and administration, with contemporary techniques and tools. This unit covers some other conventional database services such as MySQL and Postgres through a range of data analytics cases. Database performance tuning and normalization are also examined.
