 Unit Overview:
This unit provides students with a grounding in computer hardware system and the human, technical and communications fundamentals that underpin the use of computer system in Information Technology (IT). It examines the major components of computer hardware system, how these components interoperate and the functions of each. It also addresses the human/machine interface and how humans interact with and use hardware. The unit provides an opportunity to develop networking and hardware communications skills in the context of distributed, networked and localised computing. Furthermore, various problems that can be encountered in a computer hardware context and the main hardware platforms used in contemporary computing are investigated as a part of this unit.
